OK, if brew’s FontForge lacks a UI, it sound like I need to drop that approach.
Today I reinstalled the latest XQuartz.app (2.7.7). In the Finder, it shows up for some reason as
/Applications/Utilities/X11.app. The “Date Modified" time shows up as “Today,” so
it is new.
On fontforge.github.io/en-US/downloads/mac/, after selecting the Detailed Guide,
it tells me to “start XQuartz from Applications/Utilities/XQuartz.app” (again, it shows
up as X11.app on my system). I launch it. I can see that it’s 2.7.7.
Then the instructions tell me to open the Preferences and “turn off the Enable keyboard
shortcuts under X11 or Enable key equivalents under X11.” I try to do that, but almost
immediately after the Preferences window appears, it DISappears, not giving me time
to edit the preferences.
Has anyone else seen and solved this problem?
Thanks,
Ken
