[fontforge-users] advance width, left bearing and right bearing

When you import a bitmap of a glyph, I understand how to scale it and drag it in the background layer.
And I understand that one can drag the vertical line to the right to adjust the
right bearing and thus the overall advance width.

But how does one properly judge and adjust the Left Bearing?
