Typoday 2017 is organised by Department of Integrated Design, University of
Moratuwa, Sri Lanka at Colombo, Sri Lanka, in collaboration with IDC, IIT
Bombay and with support from InDeAs and Aksharaya.

Focus on âTypography and Diversityâ
*Introduction*
The theme for this year's event is 'Typography and Diversity'
The event will feature a day of workshops on Typography and Calligraphy
followed by two days of conference dedicated to 'Typography and Diversity'.
The international conference will be devoted to addressing issues faced by
type designers, type users and type educators. The conference includes
presentations by invited keynote speakers, eminent academicians, blind
juried papers, industry professionals, research scholars and students. The
event will also host an exhibition of selected posters and typographic
works of students and faculty members from Design Institutes.
The event is planned over three days:
Day 1: Workshops on Typography + Meet on 'Research in Typography'
Day 2-3 : Conference focusing on 'Typography and Diversity' + Typo Quiz +
Exhibition and Installations

Design a logo for âTypography Day 2017â so that it expresses the theme of
the event - 'Typography and Diversity'.
As the conference is being held in Srilanka, we encourage you to include
the context of Srilanka in the design of logo.
Calligraphic or digitally created letterforms or existing fonts, or a
combination of these can be used for the logo. The logo should also include
the words âTypography Day 2017â or âTypo Day 2017â.
The resulting logo should be of the size and specification given below.
This competition is open to students. The competition is open to all - non
resident Indians, as well as foreign citizens can take part in it.
*Procedure for selecting student participants:*
One idea will be finalized from the submitted lot. The jury will have the
right to select, reject or request modifications for the selected logo.

one letter, one word, many words or even a paragraph composed of words.*

combination of these can be used for the poster.*

The resulting poster should be of the size and specification given below.
This competition is open to students, faculty and professionals. The
competition is open to all. Non resident Indians, as well as foreign
citizens can take part in it.
*Procedure for selecting student participants: *
wenty five winning entries will be published as a book and displayed in an
exhibition during the event. The winners are entitled to free participation
(workshop expenses and food) during the âTypography Seminar and Workshopâ
on 23rd, 24th and 25th of February 2017.
Each of the winning participants will receive 2 copies of the book and will
also be given the 'Certificate of Winning the Poster Competition'.
