[fontforge-users] Recovering control points from curve-curve segment?

I'm using FontForge 3-Oct-2016 on Mac, and trying to get used to the
Bezier editing tools (coming from Inkscape). One problem I'm having is
that I'll have two Curve points in a row, and by moving something, the
control points between the Curves will get pushed into one Curve or the
other, resulting in a straight line between those two points.

I can't figure out how to turn that straight line back into a curve --
if I select the two Curve points and do "Make Arc," FontForge crashes.

What's the secret here? Just be careful not to move things so that the
control points vanish? Something else?

i find that if i use the mouse to move a point, then i run into a problem
where two points will merge if i drag one point over another.

if i use the keyboard to move a point, then that merging does not happen

maybe try using the keyboard to move the point (select point and then use
arrow keys ... use shift key to move faster)

in your case, it may be a "snap to" setting of some sort that is causing
the problem

about the issue that you are describing, would you please attach an example

i am using ms windows, so there may be differences though

That might be it...I just tried the Linux version, and it works as
expected. Now I just have to figure out how to turn off the
control-point info window that appears when I grab a point -- it slows
down the UI enough to make it jumpy and hard to use.

Found it in the View->Show menu, right where it ought to be!
