[Fontforge-users] Can't copy/paste references

Hi!

I'm just making my first steps using FontForge under Mac OS X. I used
the homebrew recipe to install. The version I use is:

"Executable based on sources from 14:57 GMT 31-Jul-2012-D"

My font only contains uppercase glyphs and I want to map these to the
according lowercase characters. After reading the docs, it seems as if
setting references would be the way to go.

The problem is: When I'm in the glyph view, I can't manage to create references.

When in the font view, I select the capital letter A and use "Edit >
Copy reference" (or my German localized equivalent of that entry).
Alternatively I use the right mouse button and hit the same command.

Now I select the lowercase letter a. It has no glyph yet, so instead
of a preview I see two crossed red lines.

Unfortunately, the "Edit > Paste" menu entry is disabled in this state.

In the context menu (right mouse button) the "Paste" command is
enabled, however when I click it, nothing happens.

Any idea why I can't create the reference?

In case anyone wants to look into my source file, it's here:

Thanks!

Marian

Maybe I should add to my problem description that I also cannot
copy/paste glyphs in the font view. No idea why.

Seems like I found the solution. I deactivated the option in "File >
Settings > Generic > ExportClipboard" and now it works.

Hi Marian,
I had the same copy and paste problems, till I saw this tip from the Open Font Library:
Mac OS X:

Please see this guide on how to install FontForge on Mac OS X. (To solve copy-paste problems with FontForge and also Inkscape, change the X11 preferences' "Pasteboard" settings to that "Enable syncing" is disabled.)

http://openfontlibrary.org/en/guidebook/how_to_install_fontforge

Now I only work on Fontforge AFTER starting up X11.
Under X11 go to Preferences.
Set "pasteboard" settings: Disable/untick "Enable syncing"
That did the trick for me.
Walter.
