[fontforge-users] "File exists" alert in Generate dialog

I’ve been using FontForge on Mac OS X for over two years, and I have created two fonts already. I’ve already made TTF prototypes for my own use, and am adding glyphs in hope of distributing the fonts as freeware.

My problem is that when I issue the Generate command and try to generate an updated version of either font with the additional glyphs, no matter what directory path I choose, pressing the Generate button produces an alert box that reads, “File, , exists. Replace it?” When I click Replace, I get another alert that reads, “Save failed.”

No one seems to have reported this issue before. I’d be grateful for any advice.

I would also ask whether it is possible to save an s. f. d. into that same
directory.

Not sure what's happening there. Not seen that in 5 yrs MacOS 10.6.8.
Not had a problem overwriting.

Check permissions on the filename.

Save as a different filename.

Consider running Disk Utility > Repair permissions on the volume.

Frank: I’m currently running FontForge version 20150304 on Mac OS X 10.10.2 [Yosemite]. I can save *.sfd files in my desired directory.

Ian: I am allowed to read and write to all of my FontForge project files, but I can no longer export an actual font file.

I can send my FontForge project files to either or both of you, or to anyone else willing to help.
